Neonatal Care

Elm Creek Equine recommends a post-foaling exam for all mares and foals. We check that they have received adequate colostrum by measuring IgG, and do a full physical exam on the mare and foal. Don't forget to save the mare's placenta for us to examine. 

Plasma therapy and intravenous fluids can be life-saving interventions. We provide various options for plasma therapy in foals including in-house harvested plasma and commercially produced plasma.
