Mission Statement
In 2020, Dr. Dobson and Dr. Oswald established Elm Creek Equine as an equine specific veterinary hospital. We believe that all horses should have access to a comfortable facility, monitored by veterinary professionals for medical care, minor surgeries and rehabilitation.
We treat our hospitalized patients as our own. Not only do we provide veterinary care guided by current research and frequent specialist consults, we also devote time and love into each of our patients, from grooming, hand-walking, grazing, or spoiling them with our endless supply of peppermints (if the doctor allows).
We are proud of the care we can offer to all horses within Manitoba, and work with every owner to provide an effective treatment plan that fits within their expectations and budget. We provide continuous updates and open communication, so that each owner feels part of their horse's healing journey.

We offer comprehensive rehabilitation services including wound management, tendon/ligament rehabitation, progressive reconditioning, core strengthening, and holistic treatments including Class IV Laser therapy, acupunture, chiropractic, and massage.

Colic in horses is a common occurrence and can be a difficult time for horse owners. We offer medical treatment of colic cases including complete diagnostics (ultrasound, abdominal fluid sampling, in-house bloodwork), 24/7 patient monitoring with on-site veterinarians, and medical treatment tailored to your horse's specific colic diagnosis.

Treating equine wounds can be a daily commitment and require facilities that not all horse-owners have access to. We provide high quality initial wound assessment and treatment, including radiographs, ultrasound, synovial structure assessment, and treatment with regional limb perfusions, suturing, bandaging, or casting. We also provide long term care through our rehabilitation department in bandage changes, hydrotherapy, and Class IV Laser Therapy.

We offer a variety of surgical procedures to our patients including dental extractions, mass removals, castrations, biopsies, enucleations, wound-repair, skin grafting, and several other minor surgical procedures.
All major surgeries are referred to the surgical referral center of your choice.

Foals represent a huge investment in both our finances and our emotions. Elm Creek Equine has special interest in equine reproduction, including neonatal care, and we are happy to now offer hospitalization for foals that require it. We offer IgG testing, plasma therapy, therapuetics for angular limb deformity, and minor foal surgeries. We are also available to treat critically ill foals including foals suffering from failure of passive transfer and sepsis.

We have a dedicated isolation stall to provide treatment to horses with known or suspected infectious disease, without compromising the health and care of our other hospitalized or boarding patients.

Elm Creek Equine has partnered with Dawydiuk Farrier Services to provide in-house therapeutic shoeing options. Devan Dawydiuk is one of Manitoba's most respected farriers and provides the best in corrective farrier care to our patients.
