Equine Dentistry

Elm Creek Equine performs standardized five phase oral exams including:

- general physical exam

- extra-oral structures (TMJ, muscles, sinuses)

- intra-oral soft tissue structures

- intra oral periodontic exam

- intra oral endodontic exam 

A detailed oral exam allows for early disease recognition and treatment. 

Medical imaging including radiographs, oroscopy and sinuscopy allow for an accurate diagnosis with appropriate treatment plan. These imaging modalities are recommended based on oral exam findings of each case. 

Dental extractions are the primary treatment for diseased teeth. In some cases, referral for dental restoration may be indicated. Elm Creek Equine performs standing extractions for most cases including EOTRH (incisor) extractions and  cheek teeth extractions.
